We think ADHD may be a genetically influenced condition. Understanding more about the causes of ADHD and disruptive behaviour may lead to developing more effective methods of treatment and prevention, thus improving the lives of children and families affected by this disorder.
If you’d like to take part in the study please get in contact with us.
What the study involves
Two people from our team will visit you and your children at a place and time most convenient for you (e.g. your home). When we meet we will complete interviews about your child with ADHD. Your child will also be asked to complete several puzzles that assesses cognitive ability. We will also interview any children aged 12 or over participating in the study.
A blood sample will then be taken from you and your child and for those who do not wish to have a blood test, we can take a spit sample. The genetic material (DNA) will be extracted from the sample in our laboratory at the University.
All information we receive from you will be treated as strictly confidential.
